Taragarh is situated at an altitude of 1000 m above the sea level on a 15-acre area of tea plantations. It lies on the foothills of the Dhauladhar Mountains and offers breathtaking view of the snow-capped peaks.

Sight Seeing

The ruler of Bahawalpur, Nawab Sadiq Mohammed Khan Bahadur built Al Hilal or the 'Land of the Crescent Moon' in 1931 AD. The royal family of Jammu and Kashmir purchased this place in 1951 for the widowed queen Tara Devi of the princely state of Jammu and Kashmir. The Tashijong Monastery must be visited for its religious importance and the superb view of the Kangra valley. Kangra Fort lies at the confluence of the Banganga and Pataalganga rivers. It is 5,000-year-old fort believed to have been built by Raja Susarma Chandra in the Mahabharata period. Some stone statues of Adinath, Hanuman, Shiva and Parvati dating back to Ashokan period were unearthed here some time ago. The is near Taragarh boast of ethnic clay pottery. Try out the Hang Gliding at Billing. At Taragarh, you can just savor the natural beauty of the low lying hills, water streams, fragrant tea estates, paddy fields and the Dhauladhar Mountains. You can also go on excursion to Mcleodganj, Dharamsala, Pragpur and Jwalamukhi from Taragarh.

How to Reach

By Air:
The nearest airport to Taragarh is at Kullu, which is about four-and-a-half hours drive.

By Rail: The nearest railhead is at Pathankot, which is 115 km away from Taragarh.

By Road: Taragarh is well connected by surface network with all the important towns and cities of Himachal Pradesh like Chandigarh, Ropar, Nangal, Una, Kangra, Palampur, Kangra, Dharamsala and Pragpur.
